Medals of America Releases “United States Army Medals, Badges and Insignia,” a Book on the Awards and Decorations of the Army

Medals of America, the veteran owned and operated premier source for military medals, military patches and more, announces the release of its new book, "United States Army Medals, Badges and Insignia." This book, authored by Col. Frank C. Foster, offers a complete, illustrated history and presentation of US Army medals and awards, which were presented from the revolution to the 21st century.

"United States Army Medals, Badges and Insignia," offers readers an easy-to-use, comprehensive, informative guide to more than 500 different Army medals, badges and insignia. The new Medals of America book, offers great detail about the ways Army awards have been intertwined with American culture through the past 235 years. The book also offers colorful photographs and illustrations of the US Army medals, badges and insignia, helping make it an ultimate Army awards reference, and a valuable addition to any military Veteran and military admirer's library.

Colonel Frank C. Foster grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. He saw service as a Batter Commander in Germany and served in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and USARV General Staff. In the Adjutant General's Corps, Frank served as the Adjutant General of the Central Army Group, the 4th Infantry Division and was the Commandant and Chief of the Army's Adjutant General's Corps from 1986 to 1990 during which time he activated the Adjutant General Corps Regiment. His military service provided him a unique understanding of the Armed Forces Awards System. Now, Frank operates the Medals of America press and is the co-author of other recognized books, including "Military Medals of the United States" and "The Decorations and Medals of the Republic of Vietnam."

There have been 28 million American citizens who have served in the United States armed forces since World War II, and the majority of which served in the United States Army. After Col. Frank Foster's retirement from the Army, he wanted a way to express his appreciation to the men and women who unselfishly served our Army for the past 235 years, and writing "United States Army Medals, Badges and Insignia," was his way. The book tells the story of the honors they won, the skills they developed and the military symbols they served under. This book is not just for veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Kosovo, the Liberation of Iraq, Afghanistan and dozens of other skirmishes, but also for veterans' families, as the families can find the book as a resource to understand and gain an appreciation for the dedication, and skills that go into earning these awards.
