--- New Strides for Free People ---

The Free People brand, known for stocking an ever-popular assortment of shoes is creating its very own vintage-inspired footwear collection. The line of shoes, titled FP Collection, launches today with one heel and four boot styles, available on FreePeople.com and in 12 select stores country-wide.

Free People's shoe line features a rugged, worn, and tumbled look to complement its apparel. The starting point for the collection was hand-finished artisanal leathers that over time age, wear, and patina. One will find leathers full of texture and unique distressed effects recreating a vintage look with a modern lux twist. To further brand the pieces, the bottom soles display a Free People logo.

"Footwear seemed a natural next step for Free People," says Sheila Harrington, Free People's Director of Merchandising. "FP Collection features unique washes and a rugged feel, so customers can get the Free People look from head to toe. We're extremely excited to introduce the line and plan to continue to grow and women's jackets expand the assortment."

FP Collection embraces the relaxed, tougher side of Free People. The Landmark Boot laces up to the knee while the Heartworn and Sunbelt styles have a slouchy silhouette. Even heeled styles such as the Spellbound Boot and the Leighton Metal Tip Heel are designed to have an edgy aesthetic, with burnt leather and steel-tip toes respectively. Each style is designed to pair back seamlessly to Free People apparel.
